When we talk about templates in WordPress we are normally referring to page template files in the theme. However, there are plugins that use template files to display content, and that becomes another consideration when it comes to building WordPress themes.
For example, wp-content/woocommerce/templates/checkout/form-checkout.php would be copied to wp-content/theme/yourthemename/woocommerce/checkout/form-checkout.php. At that point, the HTML and PHP in the copied file can be tweaked as required.

WooCommerce uses the wc_get_template_part function to load its templates, which in turn calls the native WordPress function locate_template. This is where the magic happens. The function looks for the template file in three locations: the child theme (if applicable), the parent theme, and the wp-includes/theme-compatdirectory in the WordPress root. The function then loads the template if found.
If locate_template comes up empty, then WooCommerce loads its version of the template. The function does allow changing of the template using the wc_get_template_part filter, so other plugins can also alter core WooCommerce templates.
Instead of writing its own function to load the template, WP User Manager uses the Gamajo Template Loader library to do the work for it. In the interest of full disclosure, I should note that I own and maintain this plugin.
This is made possible because each of their template files have a version number in the file header which can be compared against the theme templates. The version is only incremented when a change is made to the template:
All changes related to borrowing assignments are automatic and no saving is necessary. Additionally, if an item is removed from the library that borrowers have checked out, it will first be returned and then removed.
Librarian Pro can export to both to HTML and your iPod. Creating new templates for both of these formats is relatively easy if you have experience with a text editor. Of course, creating a HTML template requires knowledge of HTML as well. Once installed, templates are stored in the Application Support (macOS) or Application Data (Windows) folders.
The following is a list of variables which may be used in both HTML and iPod export templates. Validity defines where the tag can be used. Header and Footer define the area of the body page above the [item] tag and below the [/item] tag respectively. Body refers to any content between the [item] and [/item] tag set. Index refers to the index.html page only.
Occasionally, our app can auto-navigate to the location on the computer where the existing libraries are located. However, due to new security sandboxing restrictions, this is sometimes now prevented. The Delicious Library 3 library is located at:
On the first launch, the application asks whether to create a new, empty library or start with a pre-populated sample library in order to get a feel for the application. I talked before about lowering the barrier to entry by making data entry as easy as possible. If it's too much of a pain to add items, the application will not be used (and therefore not paid for either). But no matter how easy it is to add items, the customer may not be motivated to populate the collection in order to even get an idea of what the application will be like. Including the optional sample library was a wise decision.
The right-hand pane changes based on context. When an item is selected in the shelf pane, the right-hand pane contains product details, personal annotations, and a list of similar items available for sale at Amazon. If a similar item is already in the collection, it is grayed out and accompanied by a link to reveal the item in the library. When adding a new item, the pane offers a list of possible data entry methods. If manual entry is selected, the pane changes to a data entry form. You can see an example of each kind of pane below.
Rather than just showing disembodied cover images sitting on a shelf, Delicious Library includes artwork for each kind of media packaging: jewel cases for CDs, keep cases for DVDs, even packaging for GameBoy Advance games. But the cover art is not just pasted onto these templates. Instead, it's incorporated into them according to the configuration of the physical packaging.
The attention to detail is impressive. Note the subtle glare of the plastic cover and the slightly more opaque plastic "fingers" that hold the artwork to the case lid. The keep case artwork (used for DVDs and console games) is similarly impressive, and there are at least two varieties of book cover templates, one for soft-covers and one for hardcovers.
The examples above are shown at their maximum size, which tends to reveal any flaws in the original artwork. But the packaging display system actually helps to make low-quality cover art look a lot better, and it makes high-quality cover art look nearly photorealistic. The satisfaction of displaying your collection using this system is well beyond any other digital media library application that I've ever seen.

Handlebars syntax allows you to personalize the messages in your templates by inserting customers' names and other data to make an email relevant to each individual recipient. For example, if you have a customer's name stored in a JSON property called "name", you can insert the property's value into a template by adding name wherever you want the customer's name to appear.
The Handlebars language provides many features in addition to basic variable replacement, including iterations (loops) and conditional statements. Our templates and designs support most but not all of this Handlebars functionality. Currently, dynamic templates support the following helpers: 2ff7e9595c
